Future Me Project
This assignment will require you to gather information to build your future adult budget. Keep in mind that this is a hypothetical assignment, but you should plan realistically.
- Complete assigned modules from Econlowdown.
- Research possible post-high school choices found here. Use the template provided on your Google Classroom account to collect information. Post your findings to your Weebly portfolio with SSEPF1a.
- Build your resume. Use the links provided to construct a resume. Post your resume to your Weebly portfolio with SSEPF6a.
- Decide a post-high school path using the PACED decision model provided here. Post your PACED decision model with SSEPF1a.
- Decide on three careers that you would like to do and research them. Use this template to find information about these careers and summarize your findings.
- Choose one of these careers and find a home near areas that have a demand for that job. Record the necessary information on your template.
- Find a fictional home. Note that this home will have to be worked into a future budget so choose a home you believe will fit into your price range.
- Calculate the cost of financing your home and answer any questions provided.
- Compete in the H&R Block Budget Challenge! This is a 10 week competition and will be for a grade. Your score in this simulation will determine your credit score for other portions of the project. Use the H&R Budget Challenge budget template found in our Google Classroom to manage your money during the simulation.
- Watch this video before beginning the insurance portion of your Future Me Project.
- Complete the insurance portion of your Future Me Project. Select a responsible adult such as a parent, relative, neighbor, or teacher to interview. Ask the person to share with you the types of insurance he/she believes a family needs and what the costs and benefits are. Take notes during the interview and then write a script. Use any of the tools available to you to create your insurance presentation based on your findings and interview. A rubric is available here. Upload your presentation to your Weebly portfolio with standard SSEPF5a.
- Begin your own personal budget using the template found in Google Classroom.

- Obtain a budget template from your Economics Google Classroom.
- Research your preferred job's yearly gross pay and calculate your net pay using this website.
- Record your net pay on you Google Classroom budget template.
